YouTube on Google TV and Android TV is about to get a great free update we’ve been hoping for
YouTube on Google TV and Android TV is poised to receive an exciting free update that many of us have been eagerly anticipating.
The latest YouTube update promises to significantly reduce the annoyance caused by fluctuating video volumes.
The newest YouTube app for Android TV and Google TV introduces a new feature that will surely please many users: Stable Volume. This feature, previously available in the YouTube mobile app, effectively addresses one of the most common audio issues encountered in YouTube videos, and its integration into Android TV and Google TV is a welcome development. The persistent annoyance of inconsistent volume levels while watching YouTube videos will now be a thing of the past. From quiet dialogue overshadowed by loud music to unpredictable shifts between speakers, this update aims to provide a more consistent and enjoyable audio experience.
Stable volume is designed to maintain a consistent audio level, offering a seamless experience for users on the best TVs with Google TV and Android TV, including models from Sony, TCL, Hisense, Philips, and more, as well as on Chromecast with Google TV.
How Stable Volume works on your Google TV or Android TV
Similar to the night mode on your TV or sound bar, Stable Volume analyzes the audio of the content you're watching. However, instead of enhancing specific frequencies as in night mode, Stable Volume focuses solely on maintaining a consistent overall volume level. It automatically adjusts the volume if it's too quiet or too loud, aiming to make the transition imperceptible. This feature also aims to minimize the contrast between extremely quiet segments and the professionally mixed, loudly advertised content before and after.
The new feature is enabled by default, and the option to toggle it can be found in the same Settings menu that you typically access for any playing video. While the feature is valuable, there may be instances where users might want to temporarily disable it. While it enhances speech, it can potentially impact the enjoyment of music, as certain genres and tracks rely on intentional volume dynamics.
The new Stable Volume feature is included in both Android TV and Google TV with the YouTube app version v4.40.303.
