The ‘She Runs’ Programme of BYD-MMC has driven more than 500 applications with its final selection event now taking place in Karachi.

In line with turning the BYD Karachi Marathon into a professional running event for the second year in a row, being sponsored by Mega Motor Company (MMC), BYD-MMC has launched its new initiative She Runs to promote more women to run with ease and confidence by offering professional coaching, structured training and dedicated support.
More than 500 women submitted their applications in response to the initiative and 50 of the applications were whitelisted, who were called for the final selection event which took place at Ramada Creek, here in Karachi. This included a 10km endurance run, warm up and cool down drills, fitness testing, interviews and medical testing which were followed by 10 women being selected to take part in the programme.

Co-founder of Platinum Fitness and strength and conditioning coach specialising in marathon performance and rehabilitation, Shah Faisal Khan, will lead the selection and subsequent training process, while marathon runner and running coach Uzma Abid will support as part of UESCA and MatrixFit.
Now the 10 selected runners will start a structured 10-week training regime with expert training advice for enhancing endurance, performance and training for the BYD Karachi Marathon 2027.
In response, Anum Abdullah, Senior General Manager – HR, Admin & CSR at Mega Motor Company mentioned, ““She Runs’ has been a phenomenal response from women and Pakistan’s interest and potential in the sport is clear; our target is to provide them opportunities to turn their aspiration into reality.”
MMC’s devotion to being more than just about mobility continues through ‘She Runs’ and ‘She Runs’ and continues to be an association with the BYD Karachi Marathon 2027, driving towards a healthier lifestyle with increased sporting participation and opportunities for new budding talent in Pakistan.
