Pak Telecom Mobile Limited (PTML) working under the brand name Ufone along with its digital telecom brand onic and being a hundred percent subsidiary of Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has acquired 5G spectrum successfully in the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority's (PTA) 5G spectrum auction at Islamabad.
PTML Gets 5G Spectrum for the Next Gen Dig Economy of Pakistan.
This milestone has been a huge step
forward in unlocking the next stage of Pakistan's digital transformation by
opening the door for faster connectivity, ultra low latency services and
creation of completely new digital experiences for consumers, businesses and
industries.
The
spectrum acquired by PTML (Ufone) shall also be used by Telenor Pakistan after
the merger of PTML (Ufone) with Telenor Pakistan with all the required
regulatory approvals.
Following completion of the merger, the resulting entity (MergeCo) will use the
combined spectrum to provide advanced digital services to over 70 million
customers throughout the country, creating one of the most powerful digital
platforms in the country.
5G is much more than increased speeds
for mobile devices. It is what will allow for a fundamentally different degree
of digital capability that will support the ever-increasing requirements of the
digital economy in Pakistan.
For consumers, though, 5G will offer
seamless ultra-high-definition video streaming, immersive cloud gaming,
augmented reality and virtual reality experiences as well as faster access to
digital services and entertainment.
In the case of businesses and
enterprises, 5G will provide transformative potential, including intelligent
factories, automated logistics, AI-enhanced analytics, and the ability to
connect to the cloud with the highest level of reliability that will underpin
business operations that are indispensable.
In other sectors such as healthcare,
education, agriculture and public services, 5G can help achieve innovations
such as remote diagnostics, virtual classrooms, smart farming technologies,
intelligent traffic systems and next-generation financial services.
The acquisition of 5G spectrum is a part
of PTML's ongoing commitment to enhancing the quality, reliability and reach of
digital connectivity for individual and enterprise customers.
Following the planned merger with
Telenor Pakistan, this integrated network will allow more efficient use of the
spectrum resources, enhance nationwide coverage and bring greater capacity into
the investment to help accelerate the implementation of more advanced network
technologies.
The company will now begin preparations
for a phased but speeded up roll out of 5G services, initially in the major
urban centers, but gradually spreading across other regions. Significant
investment will be made in network modernization, site densification, and
development of a more digital infrastructure for consistent performance and an
excellent customer experience as 5G begins to scale nationwide.
Celebrating the milestone, Hatem
