Fourth Steering Committee Meeting Review on Dhi Rani Program Progress
The fourth meeting of the Steering Committee for "Dhi Rani
Program" was recently held in Lahore, which is another major milestone in
the ongoing efforts of Punjab to support under privileged families in the
province through social welfare initiatives.

Improvement, Public applications, implementation progress and financial support
mechanism under the program.
The Dhi Rani Program is one of the most important social programs of
the Punjab government. The goal is to help deserving families arrange the
marriages of their daughters with money and respect and also to keep the
program open and accountable.
The High Level involvement of Punjab Government
The importance of the program at the provincial level was shown by the
presence of a number of interested parties and high-level government

political advisor to the chief minister of Punjab
Usman Ali Khan, the Secretary of the Department of Women's
Development; Syed Musa Raza, Deputy Commissioner of Lahore Javed Akhtar

departmental representatives and members of the steering committee
Their presence ensured coordination between departments and alignment
of policies to ensure successful implementation of the program.
Approval of Application for Deserving Couples
The main agenda of the meeting was to go through and approve
applications received under Dhi Rani Program in Lahore. During in-depth
deliberations, the steering committee considered almost fifty applications from
deserving couples.
After several rounds of scrutiny and discussion, all the eligible applications
were formally approved and paved the way for beneficiaries to participate in
the upcoming group wedding ceremonies. The Officials emphasized that
transparency, merit and need based assessment continue to be at the centre of
the approval process.
Phase One Group Weddings 1500 Couples
Among the most important developments to emerge from the meeting was
confirmation of the implementation of Phase One which will see group weddings
for 1,500 couples organized. According to the reports, the group weddings will
begin this month in Lahore, and it would be the start of the program on a large
scale.
The group weddings are meant to:
Help to reduce the burden of costs for low-income families
o Promote social inclusion
and dignity
Standardize arrangements with the same Government oversight
The steering committee noted that there is an opportunity to expand to
other districts based on performance and availability depending on availability
and performance.
Financial Assistance from Punjab Bank
A key development that was discussed at the meeting was that of the
financial support mechanism for newlywed couples. A Service Level Agreement
(SLA) was duly signed between the Social Welfare Department and Punjab Bank.

o Eligible couples will receive Rs. 100,000 each
• Money will be disbursed
through ATM cards

easy access
This banking system makes sure that there are no delays and no risks of
manual distribution, hence making the program compatible with the latest
standards of financial governance.
The Program Preparedness and Digital Coordination
In the meeting, the directorate of Social Welfare (DGSW), Sikander
Zishan, and the Chief Digital Officer of Punjab Bank, Nofil Daud, gave a
detailed briefing about the preparedness of the Dhi Rani Program.
