Proprietors of Black Partridge Claim to have licensing system restored.
In
protest, black partridge breeders pressured Punjab government to reintroduce
the suspended method of licensing of keeping the birds in a protest held in
Muzaffargarh.
As
of the sources, partridge lovers who make black partridges gathered a rally
with the leadership of Asif Nadeem, the President of Black Partridge
Association Pakistan. The demonstrators used banners and placards that were
imprinted with the slogans to their demands.
Asif
Nadeem gave a speech at the rally claiming that the keeping of black partridges
is a significantly important aspect of the Punjab cultural heritage. He
explained that breeders and fans in the entire province are outcrying to have
the licenses of keeping the birds suspended.
He
stated that this restriction is limited to Punjab. The new licenses have been
suspended and even renewal of the current licenses has been discontinued.
Nonetheless, we still have licenses issued in other provinces.
Black Partridge Owners Demand Restoration of Licensing System

Nadeem
claimed that breeders have been keeping rare black partridges in their homes to
multiply them over the years instead of killing them. We are raising these
birds as our own children, said he, and that when they are sold they will raise
the culture of Punjab and also preserve the species.
The
association urged the Punjab Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the
Senior Provincial Minister, Marriyum Aurangzeb as well as provincial wildlife
bodies to revize their policy and resume issuing licenses rather than act on
breeders.
