Dubai: The Roads and Transport authority in Dubai has reiterated the city’s obsession with Luxury And Elitism, As Plate Number BB12, which is distinct and special, fetched a record-breaking AED 9.66 million in the 120th open number plate auction of the Road and Transport authority.
The high-profile auction not only
drew top bidders in the region but also established a new record in auctions
conducted by RTA. The auction recorded a total revenue of AED 109.03 million,
the highest number plate auction ever in RTA's history, as reported by official
statistics.
A new car number plate has been
traditionally and conventionally a status symbol in Dubai. The bidding price
for BB12 is a reflection of the demand for exclusive number plates, and such
numbers tend to stand out clearly.

The auction witnessed fierce
competition for various other premium plates too. The plate AA25 was sold for
AED 8.04 million, and the plate BB30 Was Sold For AED 6.74 Million. Another Major
Sale Included The Purchase Of The Plate CC100 For AED 4.21 Million.
A total of 90 exclusive number
plates, ranging from two-digit to five-digit numbers, were available under
various plate numbers. According to the RTA, the entire number plate auctioning
process was done with total transparency, allowing all participants equal
opportunities through a regulated bidding system.

It is believed that the number plate
sale events in Dubai are gaining more and more popularity as a result of its
flourishing luxury lifestyle and as more value is attached to personal assets.
